On Monday July 28th, 2025 we visited our Community Center in San Pedro Itzican for a special occasion. We were there to speak with the girls who had been enrolled at the Villa de las Niñas school in Chalco, State of Mexico and had returned for a scheduled visit.
Poco A Poco San Pedro Itzican A.C. sponsors 12 girls from San Pedro Itzican who travel to Chalco, Mexico and back for the 5 year educational journey. The girls and their families were present that day to speak with us and thank us for our supportive efforts.
The girls were busy creating and writing their thank you letters and notes.
Villa de las Niñas, in Chalco, State of Mexico, offers a home for 3,000 low-income adolescents thanks to the work of the Sisters of Mary. This Catholic institution provides secondary and high school education, food, shelter, cultural activities, and spiritual care to girls from rural, urban, and indigenous areas. All of this takes place in a boarding school founded by Father Aloysius Schwartz, inspired by the values of service and brotherhood. While the girls worked on their thank you letters we were busy meeting with
Poco A Poco Director, Anita Torres Guerrero.
Anita and Doris Wakeman work out the details.
A guiding light and avid supporter of our educational vision is Doris. The girls presented their written appreciation for her continued efforts to help improve the lives
of the people of the San Pedro Itzican area.
We had brought a special treat that day...wonderful desserts provided by
the Lakeside Cooking Club and its members.
The treats were delicious and enjoyed by all.
With you support we can help improve the lives of the youth in our neighboring communities. Thank you for your continued interest and actions in helping make our corner of the world a better place to live.
