Jesus Lopez Vega "Escenas e Imagenes de Familias Vulnerables" DIF Chapala

miercoles 2 de septiembre, 2015

The audience was abuzz.  The Mexican community of Chapala and the Ex-pat community all came out to welcome Maestro Jesus Lopez Vega and his new mural  "Escenas e Imagenes de Familias Vulnerables" at the DIF building in Chapala.

The new mural spans 5 panels and will be a permanent fixture in the building's atrium area.

We were treated to several performances of prehispanic dance, as well as a few ballet folklorico selections. The audience responded happily via applause.

Awaiting the Maestro's presentation and description of his new work

As is usual, the Mexican community went all out with their warm welcome and delicious food and drink offerings.

The troupe's drummer gave a rousing and thumping performance...all done on a tin drum!

Maestro Jesus Lopez Vega took the podium and described his painting influences from the early Mexican mural movement to present.  He then led us through a panel by panel description of his work.

Every inauguration should have a ribbon cutting ceremony...so we did.

Ing. Joaquin Huerta Barrios
PRESIDENTE MUNICIPAL DE CHAPALA 2012 - 2015

Of course, a plaque was installed to commemorate the occasion.

We'd like to thank all the people involed with this wonderful project,
a gift to the community to inspire and propel us toward a brighter future.
